Oasis of the Seas: Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Profile

There are staterooms and then there are staterooms, and Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas offered some of the best when it debuted. Granted, now, you may find better options on newer ships, but these are hardly the worst staterooms we’ve seen. First, there were some extensive upgrades made in 2014, in Rotterdam, with work including an engine replacement, hull painting and carpet replacement. The biggest changes included splitting the main dining room into three main dining rooms, as well as adding a few new, smaller restaurants.

Spa Oceanview Balcony

The list of special activities includes characters meet and greets (of course, plus photo ops). Four distinctly different pools and several whirlpools provide plenty of space for water fun. The Beach Pool has a sloped entry allowing guests to wade into the pool. The Main Pool is surrounded by sun lounges and is flanked by two whirlpools. The H2O Zone is a signature Royal Caribbean family water park, and the Sports Pool is restricted to lap swimmers in the morning and team water sports in the afternoon.

Plus a cool new glow-in-the-dark laser tag faceoff where you’ll battle for control of a mystical frozen city. And totally interactive, completely redesigned spaces for babies, kids and teens of all ages. Beyond the first of its class, Oasis of the Seas® was also the ship that launched a vacation revolution. There are several suite categories (not including Junior Suites), all of which have access to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen restaurant. The 225,000-GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage) Oasis of the Seas is one of the world's largest cruise ships, carrying 5,400 guests in double occupancy, and 6,296 when full. Suites Are RidiculousThink of a suite on a normal ship and you might think essentially a balcony cabin with some more space.

Considering a cruise on Oasis of the Seas? Here’s our best advice and tips for planning your cruise vacation:

AquaTheater suites provide views of the AquaTheater and Boardwalk. Oasis of the Seas Central Park has a mellower vibe, with outdoor pathways lined with plants, sculptures, and low lights that at give the space a romantic, relaxing atmosphere at night. All Royal Caribbean Oasis-class ships are world's first passenger vessels with a DNV Green Passport. The certificate is not compulsory, but it shows the environmental commitment of the operator line Royal Caribbean International. Another interesting feature is that their hulls have a special non-toxic covering that minimizes friction and saves fuel. Central Park is an outdoor relaxation zone (within the ship's interior) with 20000+ live plants. Signage boards provide detailed info on all Central Park's trees and plants. Each of the ship’s neighborhoods has its own vibe and activities, and most passengers will be hard pressed to feel like they’ve done it all after a week-long sailing. The Oasis of the Seas Boardwalk is family central and boasts two rock climbing walls, a carousel, the AquaTheater, the Ultimate Abyss dry slide and the impressive Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. Despite its size and passenger capacity, Oasis of the Seas deck plans are well laid out and easy to navigate.

Getting Around is Surprisingly EasyOn a ship the size of Oasis of the Seas, you might think that getting around would be difficult. While it can take some walking, actually navigating the ship is surprisingly easy. It’s well laid out where just about every deck offers a clear path from one end of the ship to the other. There aren’t a lot of obstacles or dead ends that mean you have to move up a deck or two to continue on your way.

During the 2019 amplification of Oasis of the Seas, she received a Caribbean-resort style pool deck, bringing a tropical feel to the ship’s highest decks. All production shows on Oasis of the Seas are included in your cruise fare. We recommend opening the Royal Caribbean app as soon as you board the ship on embarkation day to make show reservations for the cruise.

The standard Oasis of the Seas bathroom features a glass shower with a shampoo dispenser and a foot rest for leg shaving; there is no conditioner or lotion, so bring your own. The Beach Pool is saltwater, and the other pools are fresh water filtered pools. There are four primary pools on Oasis of the Seas, along with a series of whirlpools, and Splashaway Bay aqua park. Exact times of shows and activities will vary from sailing to sailing. Yes, on a 7-night sailing, Oasis of the Seas will offer two formal nights.

Whether you’re traveling with kids, a group of fellow explorers, or require any kind of specialized services, we’ve thought of all the creature comforts you’d expect during your vacation — plus a few more. Whether you fill your day with high-energy thrills or lots of laid-back lounging, eventually you’re going to work up an appetite. Fortunately, Perfect Day at CocoCay offers tons of delicious dining options to satisfy all your cravings.

Sail from Rome or Barcelona onboard the wow-worthy Oasis of the Seas® to Western Mediterranean shores. Soak up sun-filled days along Palma de Mallorca’s beautiful beaches. Admire the life-like details of Michelangelo’s David in Florence.

Unlike other ships, Oasis has a split in the middle allowing for more open-air spaces even on lower decks. This includes Central Park on Deck 8, which features a winding path through trees and plants. There are plenty of places to stop and sit, and each side is lined with a number of restaurants and shops. There are also bars where you can have a drink and enjoy the scenery. And yet, Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas has been enthusiastically embraced as one of the cruise line's most beloved vessels, even more than a decade after its launch. At double occupancy, Oasis sails with 5,606 passengers, but during the busiest seasons there can be nearly 6,700 people onboard.

There’s also The Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, including Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell. There are currently four Oasis-class ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. Oasis of the Seas was the first Oasis-class ship, delivered in 2009 and at the time breaking records for passenger capacity.

The great thing is that with so much size there is the perfect space for everyone and so many things to do. For instance, two of our favorite spots on the ship were the Solarium and Central Park. The Solarium offers plenty of space and feels a world away from the rest of the ship. It’s nice to be able to relax quietly without tons of music or huge crowds. There’s also Portside BBQ, serving Texas-style BBQ up on the pool deck. The sports bar serves food including burgers and Poke nachos to enjoy while you watch the game.
